SANGRO AVVENTINO

AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH CENTRE

2007

The project of a Automotive Research Centre is investment developed in south of Italy. The complex consists of a proper research facility, offices, control centre, residential area for scientists and a test track with garages. The idea was to create a high-tech complex integrated with nature and existing topography. All the buildings are low and visually vanish in the vast project area, except one – the control tower. Its unique form was inspired by a sail of a ship, this creates a beautiful landmark that is visible from the sea (6 kilometres away) and a nearby highway. The main function of the tower is hosting a office spaces and control rooms for the racing track. The building is surrounded by a circular lake with a restaurant integrated in its shore. The simple and clean shapes of all the structures ensure their longevity as an architectural form.
